Dear Mr Cruickshank,
Year 4 are writing to you today because we would really, really like an afternoon playtime.
We should have an afternoon playtime because we need and deserve fresh air to help us improve our learning.
How would you feel if people were screaming outside when you were trying to learn inside?
If 4JS had an extra playtime we would be more enthusiastic, calmer and more positive. The extra playtime would also make us better at learning.
If we were calmer we wouldn’t get any reminders for the rest of the year.
If you let us have an extra break-time, we will ALWAYS read every night and give you scrumptious, yummy scrummy in my tummy, white chocolate chip cookies.
Thank you for reading our letter. We look forward to hearing back from you.
Yours sincerely,
4JS
Dear 4JS
ReplyDeleteThank you for this well-written letter. You make many good reasons why you would like an extra play time.
There are 2 problems which your letter does not address:
Firstly afternoon play in Key Stage 2 classes often leads to problems which spoil the end of the day back in class. I know this as I have worked in other school where this happens too frequently.
Secondly I do not like white chocolate.
Yours sincerely
Mr C
Dear Mr C,
ReplyDeleteHow about a trial? - so that year 4 could prove that they can behave at the end of the day? If they behave well they get the afternoon break, if they behave badly they don't? It is, as I am sure you are aware, well documented, that a short break improves concentration levels. Let year 4 prove to you that they can do it! Maybe flapjacks instead of white chocolate? This would be a real challenge for the whole year group.
Go on - every one deserves a chance to prove themselves!
